Xclaim Design
can custom design a mobile version of your website.

Your current website – while viewable on smartphones and other hand held devices is not as easy to view content or navigate on the small screens of handheld devices  as it is on a desktop / laptop computer monitor.  This is true for 99% of current active websites.

For example - below are screen shots from an iPhone of the
Red Lobster Restaurant full website version and the mobile version…

Which version would YOU choose to view YOUR website on a mobile device?

Following are the latest mobile phone and search statistics*

·   By the end of 2013, more people will use mobile phones than PC’s to go online.

·   By 2015, 1 Billion iOS (Apple) devices alone could be sold.

·   95% of smartphone users have searched for local information.

·   After searching, 61% of users call a business and 59% visit the location.

·   90% of these people act within 24 hours.

·   50% of mobile searches lead to a purchase.

·   81% of users prefer mobile sites for researching prices.

·   78% will retry a site only two times or less if it does not load initially.

·   71% of users expect a mobile site to load as fast as a desktop site.

·   63% prefer mobile sites for purchasing.

·   60% of users expect a mobile site to load in three seconds or less.

·   57% would not recommend a business with a bad website.

·   40% have turned to a competitor’s site after a bad mobile experience.

·   23% of adults have cursed at their phone when a site doesn’t work.

Designing a mobile version of a full blown website, poses many technical challenges in addition to deciding the obvious i.e.; what NOT to put on the mobile version.  Full websites are not really compatible with the small screens on mobile devices, so mobile browsers on phones with touch screen capabilities have been designed to allow you to ‘zoom in & out’ to view content not easily viewable on a small screen and scroll in all directions in order view the entire page.   This of course, is quite awkward, takes much more time and not very efficient.

Mobile site pages - on the other hand – are ‘fixed in place’ and no ‘zooming’ is required because the pages are formatted to allow easy viewing and readability without having to zoom or scroll left and right (scrolling up or down is acceptable).  In addition – a good mobile web version must adhere to the following basic design rules:

1.  It must download fast.

2.  Text can be read without zooming or scrolling.

3.  Must be ‘thumb-friendly’ for links and buttons on touch screens.

4.  Copy must be used sparingly.

5.  Location and phone number must be easily viewable.

6.   Navigation must be simple.

7.   Site must look the same in both portrait and landscape mode with landscape providing an enlarged view.

Now is the time to beat out your competition with a mobile website version that studies have shown people vastly prefer over viewing websites designed for desktop computers on their mobile devices because websites designed specifically for mobile devices are easier to read, simpler to use and faster at getting what you want.
